Who? When? Where? What? & Why?
Rolaids was invented in the early 1920`s in Tennessee by Dr. Irvine Walter Grote who was an American chemist. They were created as a treatment method for heartburn and acid indigestion. At first there was only the tablet form which was very chalky and had no flavor. Over time, Rolaids started coming in many different forms and flavors, such as, cherry, fruit, tropical, mint and much more. Now they can be found in the form of chewables, liquid solutions, and the original tablets as well. Pfizer released the extra strength Rolaids plus gas relief soft chews on April 6, 2006. This product was made for the people that didn't like the chalky feeling of the original Rolaids (Anderson S, 2010).
